Mad March Hares - Hector & Hermione

I say Mad March Hares, but actually this pair are very chilled and friendly

“Hector & Hermione” was my fourth Beastie drawing, coming just after Felix. But to be honest, considering I live opposite a field called “Hare Pie Bank,” and around the corner from “Hare Pie View” they should possibly have been higher on the list of animals to draw.

As I say, it seemed a natural choice to use hares as a subject, as we’re surrounded by them. And once completed, they probably cemented my focus on British Wildlife drawing and became central to the collection

Hector & Hermione are the only couple in my collection, I’m not quite sure why but even at the very beginning there was always going to be two of them. Making the drawing take twice as long, but also sets them apart.
