Apple Puffs
Irresistible Apple Puffs
Still got loads of apples like me? Then let me help you out. This recipe is a super quick and super easy sweet treat that is guaranteed to please. Honestly they’re so simple and delicious, you have to try them. They’d also make a perfect Half-term bake activity to keep small hands and tummy’s happy
Ingredients
3 Bramley Apples roughly chopped
Golden Caster Sugar to taste and extra for the sugar/cinnamon sprinkle
25g approx of butter
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 pack of pre-made puff pastry or follow your own favourite puff pastry recipe
Method
If you’re using pre-made pastry you’re good to go. If not and you’re making your, own fantastic. Once the pastry is ready follow the below steps
Preheat the oven to 180°C/gas 6. Put the butter into a saucepan and, when the butter has melted, add the apples and cinnamon. Slowly cook for approx 15 minutes or until soft add the sugar and mix well until you have almost an apple sauce consistency
Meanwhile, dust your work surface with flour, and prepare your pastry by carefully unrolling flat. Using your apple shape cutter (mine was actually a pumpkin shape but did the same job) cut as many shapes as your pastry will allow. Obviously making sure they’re pairs.
I used the excess to shape into a puff pastry version of a Cornish pasty.
Lay the base layer of pastry onto a lined baking sheet, then add a generous spoonful of the apple mixture in the centre. Then add the top layer and press down the edges with a fork to crimp together
Brush the edge of the pastry with mill and then sprinkle with a sugar/cinnamon mix.
Place the tray in the middle of the oven and cook for approx 20 mins or until he pastry is cooked and golden looking.
Remove, allow to cool on a rack and enjoy.
